2010 is King Sturge's 250th anniversary and to mark the occasion, we have launched the 1760 Charity Appeal and are aiming to raise as much money as possible for charitable causes through our registered charity, King Sturge Charitable Trust.

The Property Triathlon has raised over £650,000 for charity to date and those primarily benefiting from your entry donations this year through the 1760 Appeal will be The Children's Trust and Orchid. Both will be present on the day so please do visit their tents to find out more about the valuable work they do.

Fundraising

We hope you will join us and raise money for your chosen charity by asking family and friends to sponsor you to take part in the Property Triathlon 2010. Every penny counts and if everyone manages to get just a few people behind them, it can make a massive difference.

You are free to seek sponsorship for any charity you choose. If you would like to support our official charities through the 1760 Appeal you can set up a Just Giving fundraising page, selecting King Sturge Charitable Trust as the charity, An Organised Event - Property Triathlon 2010. The Children's Trust

The Children’s Trust is like no other. They are the UK’s leading centre for children with multiple disabilities and in particular, children with acquired brain injury. Every parent hopes that their child will be born healthy and grow up without serious injury or illness. Unfortunately, sometimes these expectations are shattered; children are born with disabilities or become disabled suddenly as a result of an accident or illness. The Children's Trust is there to help these children and their families, providing unrivalled care, education and therapy.

The Children's Trust is absolutely thrilled to be chosen to benefit from the King Sturge Property Triathlon. This is the fourth year they have been part of the event and your support makes so much difference. It has helped the Trust build a new centre for children with brain injury. This will be the only place in the UK that provides intensive residential rehabilitation for children with a serious brain injury. Nowhere else has the experience and the specialist teams of therapists, psychologists, doctors, nurses, teachers and social workers who can thoroughly assess the needs of each child and help them. Because of this, children come to The Children's Trust from all over the UK.

Children like Ollie, who almost lost his life when he choked on a grape. The Children's Trust helped him rebuild it and gave his parents their child back. The Children's Trust wants to help more children and families and to do this they need help to set up Community Teams around the UK to deliver support and advice direct to where it is needed.

Orchid

Orchid is the only UK charity to focus entirely on the three uniquely male cancers; prostate, penile and testicular cancer. 37,000 men are diagnosed with a male-specific cancer each year in the UK. Research funded by Orchid increases scientific understanding of the male cancers and seeks to improve treatment and diagnosis methods which benefit current and future generations of men affected by these diseases.

Orchid also promotes awareness about the often overlooked men’s cancers to schools, communities, the workplace, healthcare professionals and the media. Raising awareness of prostate, penile and testicular cancer is vital to helping men and women recognise symptoms associated with these diseases as early detection, diagnosis and treatment really does save lives.

Since 1996 Orchid has helped thousands of men affected by male cancer; providing much needed support and information to them and their families as well as the dedicated healthcare professionals who care for them.

The partnership with King Sturge and the Property Triathlon will have a huge impact on the Orchid’s work; raising awareness and funding research to ensure a better quality of life for all men.
